Sure, space dragons and bird emperors are cool. But you can’t beat the classic serial killer character when it comes to clout. And not only is Jhin’s original design amazing, but even his skins top the charts when it comes to quality. So let’s try to figure out which skin is the best in his catalogue.
7. SKT T1 Jhin
Released: June 27th, 2017 Price: 1350 RP Even though this skin is in last place, it is far from bad. The new character model is absolutely breathtaking, with somewhat of an angelic vibe. And all of his new animations and particles are clean as all hell. As this is an E-sports centered skin, you get the usual team flares when you root with your W – and even a TikTok dance reference plus flare combo for your new backing animation. So why is this in last place? Well, I have a few small nitpicks. Most notably, this skin just doesn’t look like Jhin to me. It has an amazing design, but it doesn’t feel like the psychopath I have grown to know and love. Plus, small details like his backing animation dance & the wings that pop out during your ult kind of break the immersion for me. But again, these are very minor issues. And they’re only important because all of Jhin’s skins are A tier or higher.
6. DWG Jhin
Released: April 29th, 2021 Price: 1350 RP Before I get into the nitty gritty, I just have to talk about this character model. DWG Jhin is the only skin that somehow managed to make me terrified of a League of Legends character. Even though he looks way more human than usual, that mask just freaks me out. And I feel like he’s into skinning people alive. And this is somewhat of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, if you know about Jhin’s lore, you know that this could actually be a pretty decent depiction and love the skin for it. But if you’re used to the usual Jhin who’s covered from head to toe, this design seems off. All of the new animations and particles are really good, and in my opinion push the E-sports thematic a bit less than SKT T1 Jhin – which is quite neat. Your backing animation has you playing guitar here, because this dude just knows every instrument at this point. And your ult actually plays a simplified version of “Take Over”, which is quite the nice touch. So I find this skin terrifying – and I totally see why some people would love it. But it isn’t going at the top of my list.
5. High Noon Jhin
Released: February 1st, 2016 Price: 1350 RP The fact that even Jhin’s release skin was so good really should have foreshadowed all the awesomeness to come. High Noon Jhin turns you into a gun-slinging cowboy. And the amount of detail is just insane. Your auto-attacks are proper bullets, your W mark looks like a crosshair, your backing animation plays a jingle and has you destroy some pottery for practice. And it all just fits in together perfectly. The character model itself is no less amazing, with a bandana and shades substituting the usual mask and a cowboy hat giving you that bonus yeehaw energy. In terms of just design, there’s nothing wrong with this skin. I only placed it on the lower side of the ranking because thematically it’s a bit more dull than the others, and because I’m sure we’ve all seen it a thousands times by now, so it doesn’t feel as novel.
4. Shan Hai Scrolls Jhin
Released: January 28th, 2021 Price: 1350 RP Honestly, the biggest selling point of this skin for me personally is the sound design. It is simply impeccable – and it makes you feel like you’re meditating while also murdering the enemy team, which is exactly how Jhin operates. That being said, the visuals are no less impressive. Both the regular E detonation and the passive kill traps are so colorful and detailed that you can’t even be mad if one fits you. In terms of particles, fire is the name of the game, with all of your abilities being bright red and deadly. Plus your new backing animation has you summon some fire demons from a painting to go and wreak havoc, in case your giant gun wasn’t enough. The character model is comparatively the weakest part of the skin, with only the mask catching my attention. But even then I can’t in good faith say that it’s bad.
3. PROJECT: Jhin
Released: November 22nd, 2017 Price: 1350 RP I honestly didn’t think that Riot could manage to capture Jhin’s insanity within the PROJECT theme – and I have never been more glad to be wrong. The character model is just perfect, as it somehow remains recognizable as Jhin, and yet just screams cyborg bounty hunter vibes. Plus this skin gets downright terrifying once you back for the first time and realize Jhin is just a little robot bug controlling a human-sized mech. Skins don’t usually have plot twists like this. But if anyone should have one, it would be Jhin. All of your new particles are up to par with any other PROJECT skin, with the patent beep bop hologram aesthetic. And your ult just plays hype music to really get you into the zone. PROJECT: Jhin also includes a voice filter and an absolutely amazing splash art. Overall, no complaints.
2. Blood Moon Jhin
Released: February 9th, 2017 Price: 1350 RP I have noticed that the Jhin community is rather torn on this skin, but I personally love it way too much to put it any lower. First, the character model. I don’t care who you are, you can’t tell me that a demon mask doesn’t suit Jhin’s aesthetic perfectly. Plus, who doesn’t like a black and red color palette? Secondly, the particle effects are just brilliant, with ink splatter coming off of all of his abilities and reminding us that he’s an artist first and a serial killer second. Even his backing animation has him practicing his craft by turning his gun into a paintbrush. Thirdly, you can’t tell me Blood Moon Jhin doesn’t have the coolest W mark – it’s literally the sharingan. I think everything about this skin fits Jhin’s champion fantasy perfectly – and I am ready to die on this hill.
1. Dark Cosmic Jhin
Released: June 13th, 2019 Price: 1820 RP When I saw how much everyone was praising this skin, I was sure that they were exaggerating. But no, not in the slightest. Dark Cosmic Jhin isn’t just the best Jhin skin. It’s also one of the best skins in the entire game. The character model is nothing short of art, with Jhin looking like a word-destroying deity who has come to settle some scores. You now have four arms, the perfect amount. And you can use telekinesis to shoot your gun and occasionally transform into a being of pure darkness. You also have a brand new voice and somehow even creepier lines than before, plus a literal black hole for your E and arguably the coolest backing/respawn animations I have ever seen. The skin does so many things correctly that I can’t even go into detail without it taking up half this list – so just trust me when I say that this is the best Jhin skin out there. And if you don’t care much about the price, you cannot find a better option than this one.
