As she and partner Alan Bersten performed a Foxtrot to Elvis Presley’s “Inconvenience,” her son should have been visible wearing an Elvis ensemble and dancing and singing along to the King of Rock and Roll.
“He’s a big Elvis fan,” Jessie told numerous outlets including Individuals, going on to reveal that she and Forrest occasion went on a film date to go see the new Baz Luhrmann film, starring Austin Steward in the titular role of Presley.
“I showed all the children the trailer and Forrest was like, ‘I wanna see that film.’ The other children were like, ‘Yeah, whatever.’
They couldn’t have cared less. So I took him on a mother son date and we got popcorn … and we watched and he was like, ‘Yes.’ That was all there was to it,” she recalled.
Since then, little Forrest has fostered an all out Elvis obsession. As the mother of three explained, “We’ve downloaded all the music.
He wanted the outfit, he wanted the banners, the guitar. Presently he’s in guitar lessons and he cherishes Elvis to such an extent.”
Having the help of her family as well as the enthusiasm her most youthful kid brought Monday night helped push Jessie to give the best performance she could, and she called it a “special” night for the family.
It appears there was Elvis magic in the air for the nation singer, as well, as judges Len Goodman and Derek Hough agreed that Jessie made a “big improvement” from her most memorable week dancing.
“That was a tremendous step from last week!” Carrie Ann Inaba praised her.
After being advised to focus on her legs following her most memorable performance, Jessie moved forward to the adjudicators’ expectations for week two, earning her initial 7s and 6s of the season for a score of 25/40. She let the adjudicators know that having Forrest in the audience “really set me straight,” after rushing off stage to embrace him when her dance finished.
While the couple’s family life has been adjusting to Jessie’s new responsibility on the show, the country singer said husband Eric, 35, couldn’t be more strong.
“I think we simply have such a strong foundation of a marriage … Being occupied influences nothing,” she told Individuals Consistently podcast have Janine Rubenstein on Monday.
“We simply love each other. We’re happy. We’re infatuated,” Jessie added. “And we are accustomed to being busybodies and we’re there for each other.
I simply am honored to have [him as] my partner in this life.”
